What is the optic nerve?
The optic nerve is a bundle of nerve fibers. It connects the retina to the brain and carries visual information from the retina to the brain. What we see with our eyes is sent, via the Optic Nerve, to the brain for understanding or making sense of what our eyes are seeing. This is why damage to the Optic Nerve can cause vision loss.
