What is Open Angle Glaucoma or Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG)?
It is the most common form of glaucoma.
Open angle glaucoma is caused by the slow clogging of the drainage canals which results in high eye pressure.
- Open-angle means the angle where the iris meets the cornea is as wide and open as it should be.
- The symptoms of POAG develop slowly and are usually not noticed by the patient till the damage affects central vision.
- Glaucoma screening should be done regularly for everyone.
- It is a lifelong condition and the patient will have to be on treatment
