About
What kind of eye specialist are you?
I am a Retina Specialist and Vitreo-retina surgeon.
What are your areas of interest in Retina speciality?
Diabetic Vitrectomy & bimanual surgery has been an area of special interest.
Where did you study?
I completed my medical and ophthalmology training from the prestigious RP Centre at AIIMS, Delhi and then at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai.
Other Academic Achievements?
One of the first to introduce vitreous surgery in North India, I have been practicing exclusively in the field of vitreoretinal medicine and surgery for more than 30 years. I also pioneered the technique of true bimanual vitrectomy.
A keen interest in research has led me to be invited to deliver orations, keynote addresses, be an instructor, guest lecturer and Faculty at many National and International conferences. In 2011, I was awarded the Honor Award from American Society of Retinal Surgeons and have also won the Rhett Buckler Award at American Society of Retinal Specialists Film Festival on two occasions.
I have held prominent positions in several ophthalmic societies including the Vitreo Retinal Society of India and the Delhi Ophthalmic Society.
Having performed thousands of vitreoretinal surgeries and lasers, I hope to continue helping many more.

What inspired you to choose ophthalmology?
In undergrad, I was more interested in medicine and psychiatry; but, expectations from the family to continue the tradition in eye care prevailed. I was drawn to specialise in Retina as it requires a combination of surgery & strong medical as well as neurology background.
What do you do when you’re not at work?
I enjoy Photography and traveling- especially driving trips!
