Fellowship

At Shroff Eye Centre, medical education is of utmost importance. The objective is to train budding ophthalmologists, thereby contributing to the national cause of building healthcare resources.

Long Term

Vitreo- Retina

This fellowship program provides extensive clinical, surgical and academic exposure to management of vitreo-retinal conditions. Shroff Eye Centre has a record of training and refining students into skilled and ethical retina surgeons.

    Post-MS/ DNB Ophthalmology

  • Seats

    1 seat every 18 months

  • Duration

    18 months

    Yes

Training

  • OPD & Procedures
    • Extensive training in examination and working up patients.

    • Access to all investigative procedures such as Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, OCT, Fundus photography, FFA, OCTA, B-Scan, ICGA, ERG, VEP etc

    • Regular postings in OPDs and manage independent OPDs in Dr MSMT charity clinic at DCWA.

  • Surgical training
    • Fellows are trained in various retinal laser techniques such as Pan Retinal Photocoagulation, Barrage Laser, Focal Laser, Laser Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, etc.

    • Fellows are taught the latest advancements in anti-VEGF, Steroid injections and implants.

    • Active surgical supervision to learn the right technique

    • Students are trained with the latest instruments and technologies in different Retinal surgeries- Vitrectomy, Scleral buckling, IOFB removal and trauma cases, ILM peeling etc.

  • Seminars

    Case presentations and seminars are held regularly to encourage learning and discussion.

  • Conferences & Research

    Fellows are encouraged to take part and pursue research at Shroff Eye Centre along with their clinical work.

    Paper and poster presentations at conferences are also encouraged.

    Fellows are also encouraged to volunteer for inhouse conferences, training programs and CMEs.

Cataract, cornea & refractive

Shroff’s Eye Centre’s two-year fellowship in Cataract, Cornea and Refractive Surgery provides comprehensive training in managing anterior segment and refractive surgery cases. It provides extensive clinical, surgical and academic exposure to cataract, cornea and refractive surgery.

    Post-MS/ DNB Ophthalmology

    1 seat every 12 months

    24 months

Training Seminars

  • OPD & Procedures
    • Extensive training in examination and working up patients.

    • Access to all diagnostic procedures such as Topography, OCT, Keratograph, Advanced Dry Eye diagnostics, Aberrometry etc

    • Regular postings in OPDs and manage independent OPDs in Dr MSMT charity clinic at DCWA.

  • Surgical training

    Active surgical supervision to learn the right technique

    Fellows will gain experience on clinical and surgical management of a wide spectrum of cases:

    • Cataract surgery- refining all techniques including femto cataract surgery with premium IOLs

    • Refractive surgery

    • Keratoconus management

    • Corneal disorders

    • Corneal transplant- full thickness, lamellar

    • Ocular surface disorders

  • Seminar

    Case presentations and seminars are held regularly to encourage learning and discussion.

  • Conferences & Research

    Fellows are encouraged to take part and pursue research at Shroff Eye Centre along with their clinical work. They are also expected to participate in data collection and patient care related to ongoing clinical trials.

Glaucoma

Shroff’s Eye Centre’s two-year fellowship in glaucoma provides comprehensive training in managing all types of glaucoma cases. It provides extensive clinical, surgical and academic exposure to management of simple and complicated glaucoma cases.

    • Extensive training in examination and working up patients.

    • Access to all procedures such as VFA, OCT, OCT Angiography, Fundus colour photo etc

    • Training on OPD procedures such as gonioscopy, peripheral iridotomy, applanation tonometry

    • Regular postings in OPDs and manage independent OPDs in Dr MSMT charity clinic at DCWA.

  • Surgical training

    Active surgical supervision to learn the right technique

    Fellows will gain experience with trabeculectomy, stents etc

  • Seminar

    Case presentations and seminars are held regularly to encourage learning and discussion.

  • Conferences & Research

    Fellows are encouraged to take part and pursue research at Shroff Eye Centre along with their clinical work. They are also expected to participate in data collection and patient care related to ongoing clinical trials.

FAQs

  • When do admissions open?

    This depends on the course. DNB admissions are based on NEET counselling.

    Fellowships and optometry trainee/ observership/ internships have variable admission dates based on seat availability and our requirement. Please check respective pages to know more about openings and also contact hr@shroffeye.in

  • Do you have an entrance exam?

    DNB admissions are based on NEET exam and counseling.

    Fellows have to provide their CV, statement of interest and go through an interview process with our faculty  to qualify.

  • Do you provide a stipend?

    Yes. DNB and fellows receive a stipend based on NBE and hospital guidelines.

  • Do you provide surgical training to fellows?

    Yes, depending on your subspeciality, you will be given ample surgical opportunities in your fellowship. 

  • Is there opportunity for research?

    Yes, for those interested, our faculty and staff encourage research work along with your clinical work. You can join an ongoing research project, write papers and present in conferences.

  • Do you take in research fellows?

    Unfortunately, we do not offer any purely research fellowships yet. But we are always happy to hear from you if you have some interesting work in mind.
