I am a Glaucoma surgeon.
What are your areas of interest in Glaucoma?
Primary angle closure disease, congenital glaucoma, Secondary glaucoma, neovascular glaucoma, and safe
trabeculectomy.
Where did you study?
I studied at the renowned Christian Medical College Vellore and All-India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi.
Other Academic Achievements?
I was the Head of the Glaucoma research facility and clinical services at Dr Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic
Sciences, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India from 2004 till 2021.
I also spearheaded the National Task Force in Glaucoma, which is currently operational across India and also took a
lead in rationalizing the treatment of Primary angle closure disease in South East Asia.
With over 200 peer reviewed indexed international publications I have also authored and edited many ophthalmology
textbooks.
I am on numerous committees including The Glaucoma advisory group and Project evaluation committee of the Indian
Council of Medical Research, the Glaucoma Research Society & World Glaucoma Association. I have also held the post
of president of the Glaucoma Society of India in the past.
I enjoy interacting with my patients and hope to help anyone I can.

What inspired you to choose ophthalmology?
I chose it as ophthalmology offers a clear view of most pathologies, and a chance to do medical and surgical therapy.
What do you do when you’re not at work?
I enjoy Gardening, bird watching, travelling, and reading.
