Another publication from Team Retina at Shroff Eye Centre!
Dr Charu Gupta, Dr Aashna Agarwal Sachdev and Dr Sandeep Kumar from our retina team published their findings on retinablastoma. Retinablastoma is commonly called ‘eye cancer’ that begins in the back of the eye or retina. It most commonly affects babies and young children under 2 years.
With early detection, the treatment is quite effective.
How will you know if your child has retinoblastoma?
Most of the times there are no symptoms. Sometimes you may see the child’s pupil (central black circle in eye ) looking white instead of black. Or you may observe redness and swelling of the eye.
Quite a few times patients notice it when they take a picture of their child and the pupil shines white.
Getting to an eye specialist in time is quite important – please do not delay treatment for any reason.
