Patients at Shroff Eye Centre are seen by prior appointment. Doctors,
Optometrists, and members of the technical and office staff at Shroff
Eye Centre are trained to stress courtesy, attentiveness, and professionalism
in caring for every patient.
Registration:
Upon arrival of the patient at any of our centres, the receptionist
will complete the registration formalities and request the patient
to be seated in the waiting room.
Assessment:
One of our qualified optometrists will then record a detailed history
consisting of eye symptoms and relevant medical history, along with
a preliminary examination (testing of the eyesight to determine
the best possible visual acuity and measuring of eye pressure).
Examination:
Thereafter, he or she will be examined by an ophthalmologist (eye
specialist). The doctor will therefore see the patient later than
the appointed time. This practice is followed in reputed clinics
in India and abroad. Since each patient is different with regard
to the complexity of his/her problem, it is not possible to strictly
adhere to the appointed schedule. However, each patient gets the
time and attention he or she needs.
Certain patients may require further testing after dilating the
pupils (especially patients with cataracts, vitreo-retinal disorders,
and children suspected to have a spectacle number). Pupillary dilation
takes time; hence patients can expect to be at the clinic for a
significant duration of time. Dilatation of pupils causes glare
and blurring of vision. Dark glasses may help glare during the day.
However, driving at night and reading can be difficult for several
hours. Hence, it is preferable to bring along an attendant who can
drive you back home. Kindly inform the doctor if you had any adverse
or allergic reaction during dilatation of pupils in the past. Diabetic
patients should bring along their medicines. A snack bar is present
in the waiting area and functions throughout the duration of the
clinic.
Follow up:
Many patients may require repeated examinations over the next few
days, or may need to be referred to consultants of other sub-specialties
within the clinic for complete evaluation of the patient. These
referrals are also by prior appointment. Though all efforts are
made to do this promptly, out-station patients may need to make
appropriate arrangements to stay in Delhi for the required duration
of time.
